What the newsletter stores
When you request a subscription, Aflora stores your email address, language, signup source, optional campaign parameters, and consent timestamps in PostgreSQL. Your subscription stays pending until you use the time-limited confirmation link.
The signup service uses your network address briefly for in-memory rate limiting. It is not written to the subscriber or analytics tables.
Delivery providers and measurement
Confirmed addresses are synchronized to Resend, which sends confirmation messages and newsletter issues. Railway hosts the website, API, and PostgreSQL database.
Signed Resend webhooks report sends, deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints, suppressions, and subscription changes. The analytics table stores a keyed recipient hash—not the email address—along with the event type, time, broadcast id, and clicked URL when applicable. Opens can be distorted by privacy proxies and image blocking.
Optional readership measurement
Aflora does not measure your reading activity unless you accept the measurement prompt. If you accept, Aflora creates a random browser identifier and records page views, active foreground reading time, scroll completion, broad device class, locale, campaign parameters, learning-lab starts, selected calls to action, browser performance, and sanitized error categories.
Aflora does not store your network address, full browser signature, typed text, pointer movements, or a replay of the page. External referrals are reduced to the referring hostname; same-site referrals retain only the path.
If you confirm a newsletter subscription in a browser that has accepted measurement, a short-lived, single-use token may connect that browser identifier to your subscriber id. The token contains no email address and does not recognize you across other browsers or devices.
Optional article feedback
You may rate whether an article was useful, select one reason, and leave a comment of up to 500 characters. Feedback stores the article, language, rating, optional reason and comment, and submission times. Do not include personal or sensitive information in a comment.
Feedback does not require an account, newsletter subscription, or readership-measurement consent, and it is not linked to those identities. Your browser keeps a local copy so you can revise the response; clearing Aflora's site data removes that browser copy. The service uses your network address briefly for in-memory rate limiting but does not store it.
Retention and control
Unconfirmed requests older than 30 days, delivery events older than 400 days, and person-level readership activity older than 400 days are deleted under the retention process. Free-text feedback comments are removed after 400 days while their non-identifying ratings and standardized reasons remain. Before old readership records are removed, non-identifying daily article totals may be retained. Consent and suppression records are retained to document permission and prevent unwanted future delivery. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link.
Use the “Measurement settings” control on any page to reject or withdraw analytics. Withdrawal stops collection, removes the browser identifier, and requests deletion of its person-level activity. Newsletter subscription and analytics consent are independent.
You may ask to access or delete your data. Verified deletion requests may retain the minimum suppression record needed to ensure Aflora does not email the address again.
